James brings with him an impressive track record of 20 years in transportation and planning, gained from his previous roles at esteemed firms such as WSP, Atkins, and Hub Transport Planning. His expertise has been instrumental in helping clients secure planning permission for various development sites across the country, spanning residential, education, retail, commercial, industrial, and leisure sectors. Now he brings all of this to ‘ttc’.

James says,

"I am thrilled to join 'ttc' at this exciting time in their ambitious growth plan. The team has a real drive to become the best transport planning consultancy in the country, and I look forward to being part of that and helping them achieve their goals. I enjoy being part of a team that supports each other and provides clients with the best advice to help them achieve their development aspirations. I'm impressed with 'ttc's diverse client portfolio, and I can't wait to help strengthen those existing client relationships and develop new ones. Everyone at 'ttc' has given me a warm welcome, and I can't wait to get to know the team better."

George Bailes, Managing Director of 'ttc,' expressed his delight at James' appointment, stating,

"I'm absolutely delighted to announce the arrival of James at 'ttc'. Following the development of our growth plan through the Goldman Sachs Small Business Programme, appointing a Director to run the Birmingham office was our top priority. With James leading the team, expanding the client base, and heading our newly established Birmingham Office, we've successfully achieved our initial goal, which is incredibly satisfying.

James was a natural fit for the company, and his experience of working for a similar-sized transport consultancy means he understands the nuances of working for an SME. We highlighted James as someone whom we wanted and who would fit the culture of the company. He is talented, focused, hard-working and hungry for success, which aligns with our company values and vision. As soon as we started discussions with James, we knew he would be a great asset, and we feel fortunate to have him here at 'ttc'.”

Over his career, James has provided advice on various projects, leading on transport input for high-profile schemes across the country. James reflects, "One project I am particularly proud of is Downtown Grantham Designer Outlet. This scheme was for a new 220,000 sqft centre to complement the existing department store on the site. Being part of a first-class multi-disciplinary team that guided the client through the challenging planning process was great. The scheme received much media attention, but I got great satisfaction helping the family-run business meet its goals."

Another area of great success for James is helping housebuilders and land promoters achieve planning permission for nationwide residential schemes. James said, "I get great fulfilment in helping new homes get built when there is such a need for new housing across the country".

A member of the CIHT and a specialist in the development planning process – James advises clients from initial site selection and local plan promotion to providing Transport Assessments, Travel Plans, EIA Chapters, WCHARs and beyond.

George concludes,

“In the short time since James started with us, he has already proven that he is a real asset to the company. I'm excited to help him settle into his new role and see him help 'ttc' grow and expand the Birmingham team and client base. Welcome to 'ttc' James, I wish you every success in your role."
