ES Chapter and Construction Traffic Management Plan

Updated: May 13, 2020

‘ttc’ were appointed as lead Transport Planning Consultants, to provide a Traffic and Transport Environmental Statement Chapter and a Construction Traffic Management Plan to accompany a Development Consent Order Application for the North Shropshire Overhead Line Reinforcement Project.

As part of the preliminary assessment work, ‘ttc’ undertook pre-application scoping with Shropshire County Council as Local Highway Authority and Highways England as Strategic Highway Authority to determine the scope of the assessment work. ‘ttc’ were able to successfully argue that the environmental effects from traffic would be negligible and as a result the traffic effects were excluded from the full EIA.

To further support the application, a Construction Traffic Management Plan was drafted and required ‘ttc’ to identify strategic and local access routes, undertake a site access audit, determine a range of management measures for the delivery of an Abnormal Indivisible Load, measures to mitigate impacts from general construction traffic as well as staff movements.

The Development Consent Order Application was successfully validated by the Planning Inspectorate in December 2018.

James McGavin, Managing Consultant, ttc, said,

"We have thoroughly enjoyed working on this project and getting to this stage in the application. We look forward to continuing to support the project team in the next stages of the project as the application progresses through the inquiry process."
